Bio

Who I am

I'm Kyle de Villiers — founder and lead photographer of DV Media, a South African visual media studio specialising in real estate photography, cinematic property video, architectural work and branded social content.

I built DV Media to do one job: help South African agents sell more listings, work more efficiently, and upgrade their personal brand. The studio exists because I kept seeing world-class properties — and the agents marketing them — let down by media that didn't match the standard of what they were selling. Phones held at waist level. Wrong colours. Exteriors shot at noon. Listings that did the property a disservice and the agent no favours.

Every shoot is on-site and every frame is captured with a specific outcome in mind: the listing thumbnail that earns the click, the hero image that opens the brochure, the walkthrough that closes the showing before it starts, and the social cut that puts the agent's face on the listing — not just the property. Agents who shoot with us spend less time directing me and more time selling, because they trust what comes back.

I'm based in St Francis Bay on the Eastern Cape coast, with the Garden Route and Port Elizabeth / Gqeberha at the door, and I work regularly across Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban — travelling anywhere in South Africa for the right project.

What I do

How I work

Three stages. Every shoot.

1. Brief

A quick call or message — what's the listing, who's the buyer, what does winning look like? You get a shot list, a quote and a slot back, usually inside 24 hours.

2. Shoot day

I arrive on-site, read the light room-by-room and work through the shot list without rushing. Most homes take 60–120 minutes start to finish.

3. Delivery

Edited stills back inside 24–48 hours, video within a week. Delivered the way your portal expects — Property24-ready, Dropbox link, Portal24, or direct upload.

Frequently asked

Questions agents ask me.

Do you shoot every job personally?

Yes. If your booking says Kyle de Villiers, that's who shows up. For high-volume agencies that need broader cover, I bring in vetted partner shooters under the DV Media brief — but the standard, edit and delivery are the same.

Can I book you directly versus through the studio?

Direct bookings come through DV Media — the studio handles scheduling, invoicing and POPIA-compliant delivery. The simplest way is the contact form; every brief lands with me.

What does a good brief from an agent look like?

Three things: the listing address, the angle you're selling (family home, lock-up-and-go, investment, lifestyle), and any deadline or campaign. Hero shot, must-have angles and access notes are useful but optional — I'll work it out on-site if needed.

Do you take international work?

Yes. I've worked on international projects and I'm available to travel for the right brief. Lead time matters more than location — for international work I typically need 4–6 weeks notice.

What's the smallest project you'll take on?

A standard listing shoot. There's no minimum project value — if it's a single apartment, I shoot it the same way I'd shoot a R30m villa. The only constraint is travel: outside the Eastern Cape, smaller jobs need to slot into a trip already on the calendar.

Writing

I write practical, field-tested guides on property media for agents, developers and home-owners. Recent pieces:

Where to find me

I'd rather turn down a shoot that isn't the right fit than dilute the average. Every listing I take on is one I'd put on my own portfolio. — Kyle
